About DST

DST is the independent and central product information database for the two-wheeler industry. With the platform, suppliers, wholesalers, and brands make standardized and up-to-date product data available to dealers. Through their POS system and webshop, they have easy and free access to current product information from their suppliers. This saves time, provides a better customer experience, and offers commercial opportunities.

Why DST?

The DST Foundation was established by BOVAG and RAI Association in 2009 to take innovation in the two-wheeler industry to a higher level. Digital innovation is essential in an era where speed, convenience, and efficiency are becoming increasingly important.

Consumers are increasingly researching online before making a purchase in a physical store or via a webshop. Digital product information is indispensable for the industry and retailers to respond effectively to this behavior. Product information must be clear and consistent at every link in the chain.

The DST Foundation promotes cooperation within the industry in a neutral manner. The foundation is supported in this by trade associations RAI and BOVAG, and with a subsidy from the Foundation for Two-Wheeler Industry Interests. DST operates independently and on a non-profit basis, ensuring that all parties in the chain benefit.

DST offers a standard for article data. This data is recorded and described in a uniform manner. The standard was developed with TNO.

For product identification, DST uses GS1 standards. Thanks to barcodes, data exchange runs smoothly and time is saved.

Board and a working group

The board of DST consists of five members. In addition to the representatives of DST founders BOVAG and RAI Vereniging, the other board members work for suppliers, brands, and a retail organization.

A user group comprising suppliers addresses practical and technical matters concerning article management in DST. Specific market wishes and needs are discussed during this process. This is led by DST coordinator Roald van Geleuken of RAI Vereniging and platform manager Harmen van Es of Dynamo Retail Group. In this way, the functionalities and ease of use of DST are further refined.
